Green Passivates

  • Abchrom 7407

ABCHROM CHROMCOAT 7407 is a chemical conversion treatment for aluminium and aluminium alloys. The solution is applied at room temperature, by dip methods, and produces a light blue to green coating providing a maximum in corrosion protection.

  • Abchrom GR

The ABCHROM GR produces an even green chromate coating on zinc and cadmium deposits, with high corrosion resistance properties -achieving up to 150 hours salt spray under conditions ISO 3768 neutral salt spray. ABCHROM GR offers a pleasing alternative to the less attractive olive-drab frequently specified.

  • Abchrom OD

The ABCHROM OD process has been developed to produce olive green chromate coatings on zinc and cadmium deposits, where the highest degree of corrosion resistance is required. The chromate coatings produced from ABCHROM OD, when correctly applied, satisfy the requirements of BS -6338 ISO 4520 Class 2 Designation D

Passivates for Aluminium

  • Alocrom 1000

A liquid chemical which imparts a light chromate conversion to aluminium and its alloys without significantly changing the appearance of the metal. It is normally specified where a high level of electrical conductivity is required from the aluminium surface or the aluminium is to be subsequently lacquered and so the surface must be uniformly metallic. As Alodine is approved to MIL-DTL-5541 (now MIL-DTL-81706) and the major aircraft manufacturers.

  • Alocrom 1200 Brush

A two pack liquid chemical system which will impart an iridescent golden, protective chromate coating of 0.3 – 2.0 gram/m2 on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. It is mostly specified when dipping is not commercially viable: for example, repairing Alocromed or anodised surfaces, as a preparation for aircraft coating systems or the treating of a few bespoke components. It is approved to DEF STAN 03-18 and DTD 902E in the UK; as Alodine 1200 it is approved to US MIL-C- 5541 (now MIL-DTL-81706) and by all major aircraft manufacturers including BAE Airbus ABP 1-5057.

  • Alocrom 1200 Dip

A powdered chemical which when dissolved in water will form an iridescent golden, protective chromate coating of 0.3 - 2.0 gm/m2 on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. It is normally used by dip. It is approved to DEF STAN 03-18 and DTD 900/4413A in the UK; as Alodine 1200 it is approved to U.S. MIL-C-5541 Class 1A and 3, Form II, Methods B and C, and by all major aircraft manufacturers including Boeing (BAC 5719) and Airbus ABP 1-5057.

  • Alocrom 1200 Powder Kit

A powder chemical (Part P) which when dissolved in Acidic Base (Part L) will impart an iridescent golden, protective chromate coating of 0.3 - 2.0 gram/m2 on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. It is mostly specified when dipping is not commercially viable: for example, repairing Alocromed or anodised surfaces; as a preparation for aircraft coating systems or the treating of a few bespoke components. It is meets to DEF STAN 03- 18 in the UK; as Alodine 1200 it is approved to US MIL-DTL 81706 (and MIL DTL 5541F)

  • Alodine 1132 Pens

Touch-up pens containing a chromic solution, which will give a golden protective coating on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. They are used to repair scratched and damaged surfaces, particularly those previously treated with Alocrom 1200. Approved to MIL-DTL-81706 and by major aircraft manufacturers including Boeing (BAC 5719)

  • Alodine 1200S

A powdered chemical which when dissolved in water will form an iridescent golden, protective chromate coating of 0.3 - 2.0gm/m 2 on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. It is normally used by dip and contains powerful accelerators to enhance the chromate coating of more difficult aluminium alloy surfaces, counter mild alkali carry-in and allow shorter treatment times. In the US, it is approved to MILC5541/ QPL-C-81706 and Boeing Spec. BAC 5719.

  • Alodine 5200

A mildly acidic liquid which, used with very pure water, imparts a chromium-free, colourless/bluish yellow conversion coating to clean, oxide-free aluminium and magnesium alloys. It can also be used as a final passivation stage for phosphate processes on ferrous metals. It is normally used by a dip process at moderate temperatures. It is approved to US MIL-C-5541 and MIL-C-81706 for use on 5000 and 6000 series aluminium alloys under paint on land vehicles and by Boeing for use on titanium (BAC 5861).

  • Alodine 600

A mildly acid liquid which imparts a light iridescent golden, protective chromate coating of 0.3 – 1.5 gram/m2 on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. It is ready for use as a brush or swab treatment at ambient temperature, especially on work too large to dip or on a few bespoke components. Its use is specified by the Boeing Aircraft Corporation BAC 5719 for their sub-contractors under air-drying paints rather than other golden chromate treatments. In the US, it has US MIL-C-5541& MIL-DTL-81706 approval..

  • Surtec 650

A concentrated liquid trivalent chromium based chemical which when diluted with water will form an iridescent blue to tan protective chromate coating of 50 – 500 mg/m2 on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. It is normally used by dip but can be sprayed or wiped. It is approved for aerospace to U.S. MIL-DTL-81706 and MIL-DTL-5541 F and for Architectural Aluminium by Qualicoat.

  • Surtec 650 Anodising

A concentrated liquid trivalent chromium based chemical which when diluted with water will seal anodic coatings on anodised aluminium and aluminium surfaces.sion

  • Surtec 650 Brush

A ready to use solution for brush, spray or wipe application onto aluminum. The solution will form an iridescent blue to tan protective trivalent chromate. It is approved to U.S. MILDTL- 81706 and MIL-DTL-5541 for bare corrosion

  • Surtec 650 pens

Touch-up pens containing a t r i valent solut ion, which will give a protective coating on clean, oxide-free aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. They are used to repair scratched and damaged surfaces, prior to painting, powder coating or gluing. Surtec 650 is free of hazardous hexavalent chromium. Surtec 650 complies with WEEE and RoHS. Surtec 650 meets MIL-DTL-81706B and MIL-DTL-5541F (both for bare corrosion resistance and low electrical contact resistance).

Trivalent Passivates

  • Abchrom TVC

Trivalent Chromium Thick Film Passivation Process.

  • Abchrom Alu-tri

Trivalent Chromate Passivation Process for Aluminium

  • Abchrom Tri

The ABCHROM TRI is a specifically-developed blue-bright passivate for zinc. It is based on the use of trivalent chromium compounds, as opposed to the less ecologically acceptable hexavalent compounds frequently used. The use of ABCHROM TRI can result in a significant reduction in effluent treatment. The ABCHROM TRI process has a long service life, which will be several times that of conventional hexavalent chromate systems.
