T Deruster 1
A powdered chemical which when dissolved in dilute nitric or sulphuric acids produces a solution, which removes oxides and smut from aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces.
Normally used by dip, it gives a lightly etched and clean surface that can be Alocrom treated, spot-welded, bonded with adhesives or is ready for anodising or painting processes.
T Deoxidiser 1 is the standard product but others are available, for instance, to meet aircraft industry specifications.
Its use conforms to DEF STAN 03 - 2/3 Method 0 for Painting and to BAE Airbus ABP 8-1296 and ABP 8-3304.
