Advanced optical systems increasingly rely on complex micro-structured components such as complex aspheric lenses, freeform optics, diffractive optical elements, and integrated apertures. Fraunhofer IOF has developed a comprehensive technology portfolio covering grayscale photolithography, wafer-level replication, and UV nanoimprint processes for the fabrication of high-precision micro-optical components.
This webinar provides an overview of manufacturing technologies enabling industrial-scale realisation of advanced micro-optics. Particular emphasis is placed on mask-aligner-based UV imprint processes using highly transparent polymers, allowing excellent replication fidelity, short cycle times and seamless integration into wafer-level manufacturing concepts. Furthermore, the integration of additional functionalities, such as lithographically defined apertures and spacers, enables highly compact and robust miniaturized optical assemblies. Application examples from automotive lighting, 3D sensing, hyperspectral imaging and telecommunications demonstrate the versatility of these manufacturing approaches.
