Phosphating Solutions

Iron Phosphate

  • Abphos 300

ABPHOS 300 is a concentrated, liquid, lightweight iron phosphate process developed to simultaneously degrease and conversion coat steel, zinc and aluminium components prior to organic coating. It has been specifically developed for use by immersion application. Coatings produced by ABPHOS 300 on steel conform to the requirements of BS -3189 1991, Type Fe p h, and also DEF Stan 03-11 Class 1V Specification. ABPHOS 300 is extremely low sludging and will produce coating weights in the range 0.3 - 1.0g/m2

  • Descale DS67

ABPHOS DESCALE DS67 is used to simultaneously clean and produce a phosphate coating on ferrous components. It is capable of forming tight, adherent, amorphous iron phosphate coatings with a coating weight of 0.4 to 1.0 grammes per square metre, and is therefore an economical method of surface preparation for painting. ABPHOS DESCALE DS67 will simultaneously remove grease, light oxide films and deposit a tightly adherent phosphate coating on ferrous metals. ABPHOS DESCALE DS67 is effective in hard water. It will produce an amorphous iron phosphate coating, ideal for subsequent painting operation (good corrosion and impact resistance). It is capable of diverse operation without high equipment cost, and is economical in operation. ABPHOS DESCALE DS67 is 100% active, non-corrosive and capable of simple control. ABPHOS DESCALE DS67 can be used by immersion or in a steam gun. (The latter is often the most economical way of preparing large, unwieldy assemblies). ABPHOS DESCALE DS67 is also suitable for use on zinc and aluminium components.

Manganese/Iron Phosphate

  • Abphos 900M

The ABPHOS 900M phosphate process produces, by immersion, manganese/iron coatings on steel surfaces. The process develops a fine, uniform, heavy crystalline coating which is non-metallic and highly absorptive. ABPHOS 900M coatings conform to the requirements of BS 3189 -1973 Type 1A and DEF. STAN 03-11/2 Class I. In conjunction with suitable lubricants, ABPHOS 900M provides excellent sliding surface protection - to reduce friction and wear on moving parts. i.e. piston rings, valves, gears and other bearing surfaces.

  • Granodine 111

An acidic, liquid chemical which when diluted in near-boiling water gives a heavy manganese-iron phosphate coating on iron and steel. Used by dip, it is an accelerated process giving a coating with very high corrosion resistance and also lubricant retention for components subject to wear. It is approved to DEF STAN 03-11/3 as a Class I accelerated process and previously to DTD 900/4391; it also conforms to BS 3189 (1973) type IA heavyweight. It also meets B.Ae Airbus ABP 1-5056.

Phosphating for Aluminium

  • Alocrom 407/47

Alocrom 407 and Alocrom 47 are strongly acid, liquid chemicals which when mixed in warm water form a thin, amorphous, iridescent to medium-green chromium aluminium phosphate coating on aluminium alloy surfaces. Coating weights are normally 0.3 – 3.0 gram/m2 and the blend is normally used by dip. The coating meets the requirements of EN 12206-1:2004 (supersedes BS 6496) for extrusion treatment. As Alodine 407-47 in the EU & USA, it is approved to U.S. FDA as a treatment under paint and lacquers on foodstuff containers.

  • Alugreen A&B

Alugreen A and Alugreen B are strongly acidic, liquid chemicals which when mixed in warm water form a thin, amorphous, iridescent to medium-green chromium aluminium phosphate coating on aluminium alloy surfaces. Coating weights are normally 0.3 – 3.0 gram/m2 and the blend is normally used by dip. The coating meets the requirements of EN 12206-1:2004 (supersedes BS 6496) for extrusion treatment.

Zinc Phosphate

  • Abphos 700Z

ABPHOS 700Z is a versatile nitrite-accelerated zinc phosphate process for use on ferrous metals. Depending upon the method of operation, ABPHOS 700Z will produce, in rapid time, uniform, fine crystalline deposits of zinc phosphate, with coating weights in the range of 3.5 - 8.5g/m2. The coatings produced by this process are ideal for (a) Pre-painting operations - to improve adhesion and overall corrosion resistance. (b) Cold forming and drawing operations - to improve lubricity i.e. wire and tube drawing. ABPHOS 700Z coatings conform to the requirements of B.S. 3189 -1973 Type 2 and D.E.F. Stan 03-11/1 Class II

  • Abphos 800Z

ABPHOS 800Z is a specially developed immersion zinc phosphate process designed to produce heavy, corrosionresistant coatings on ferrous metals. Coating weights of up to 30g per square metre may be comfortably achieved. The dense, even, crystalline deposit produced is ideal for use with organic protectives. The unique formulation of ABPHOS 800Z provides a single additive process, exhibiting a high tolerance for iron in solution, coupled with low sludging characteristics.
